Joe  loves theatre.

In 1990 he graduated with a  BFA in Fine Arts from the University of South Dakota . He  also studied abroad in London England at  Guildhall School of Music and Drama and briefly at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.

Before graduating from USD,  Joe was honored to be part of a two man theatre production which garnered much regional attention and was chosen to perform at The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.

In 1991 Joe moved to New York City where he  continued classes at The New School and spent most of the 90's, creating off-Broadway theatre and performing music in theatre companies, folk clubs and on subway platforms.

From 1998-2013 Joe turned his back on theatre and commited full time to music/songwriting as a profession,
moving to Austin, Texas.  But as time passed,  he began to miss "the warmth of the lights, the smell of grease paint."

In the early part of the 21st century he returned to his home town of Santa Fe and shorty there after reunited with his theatrical passion and created Xoe Fitzgerald: Time Traveling Transvestite, a rock opera.

In 2014, Joe created Theater of Death; a theatre  production company based in the Historic Engine House Theatre in Madrid, New Mexico.
Theater of Death is now nearing its 10th year of  original macabre comedies and music.

Recently Joe, along with writer Andrew Wice, have been commissioned by AMP and The New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs to create a musical/opera based on the events surrounding Billy The Kid and The Lincoln County Wars.

Keep a look out to see what happens!
